Read the evidence in its own setting
Put the setting beside the claim
Epitalon is a man-made peptide.
Epitalon has cell and animal research, but those findings do not establish a benefit for people.
- Cells: what happened in a laboratory dish?
- Animals: what happened in that species?
- People: what change did participants actually experience?
- Your goal: did the study measure the outcome you care about?
Check the exact substance
Epithalamin is a mixture taken from a small gland in cattle brains. Epitalon is made to copy part of that mixture; it is a different substance.
The human longevity reports concern that extract, sometimes combined with another extract, rather than epitalon.
- Find the substance name in the study itself.
- Ask why a result about an extract is being used to discuss a man-made peptide.
- Keep a claim about sleep separate from a claim about lifespan.
Ask what the research leaves open
FDA means the US medicines agency.
In its July 2026 epitalon review, FDA staff found too little evidence to support the proposed use for insomnia, meaning persistent trouble sleeping.
- Did people feel or function better, or did only a test result change?
- Who received the treatment, and who was in the group used to compare the results?
- What unanswered question would change the treatment decision?
